Ntopwa Queens stun Wanderers Queens
Kukoma Ntopwa Queens sealed a sweet revenge on Mighty Wanderers after netting with the last kick of the match to claim a 0-1 victory in the National Bank of Malawi National Division League at the Mpira Stadium on Saturday morning.
Takondwa Gambuleni netted a 94th minute winner after chipping over the ball at Esther Maulidi to hand the Amaghetto kids a much needed victory in a dominant display against the Nomads.
Ntopwa Queens lost in a similar fashion to the Nomads in the first round but their win was the sweetest as it came when both teams thought it will end in a stalemate.
Assistant coach for Kukoma Ntopwa Queens, Chikumbutso Henry, hailed his players for a brilliant display into the game which gave them a win.
''We thought of playing Olivia Phikani to the right because Wanderers relies on Faluna Umali so we managed to stop them. Most important, we never gave up and it is good that we won this game,'' said Henry.
On his part, Mighty Wanderers Queens head coach Thom Kazembe said his team were very low into the game hence the defeat.
''We were very low in the game and second on the ball, i will just say that we did not play well today,'' said Kazembe.
The win took Kukoma Ntopwa Queens up to fifth in the League with 21 points from 6 wins, three draws and four losses while Mighty Wanderers Queens dropped from third to 6th with 20 points from 6 wina, two draws and five defeats.
