MAFCO earns breathing space in survival battle after back-to-back wins
MAFCO FC have placed themselves on a better place for their survival in the TNM Super League after securing vital back-to-back wins thanks to a 2-0 win over relegated Songwe Border United at the Champions Stadium on Wednesday.
The Soldiers were coming from a 2-0 win over Civil Service United on Sunday and got two goals from Zikani Sichinga and China Chirwa in the second half to sit four points above safety in the League.
MAFCO head coach, Stereo Gondwe, described the win as vital in their chase for survival in the League.
''We are very happy with the win because we needed it most considering at how points are hard to find now and also where we are in the League,'' said Gondwe.
The victory took the team up to 11th in the League as they have 31 points from 8 wins, 7 draws and 13 defeats in the League, four points above the relegation zone.
