Substitutes rise to serve Wanderers again with late win
Clement Nyondo and Sama Thierry Tanjong all came off the bench as Mighty Wanderers desperately needed a win to score goals to hand them a 2-0 late win over Songwe Border United and move at the top of the TNM Super League standings at the Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
The Nomads depended on substitutes to beat FCB Nyasa Big Bullets last Sunday and were kept knocking and searching for a precious goal against the league anchors and Nyondo headed in at 86 minutes while Sama added second in the added time to seal the win.
Head coach, Bob Mpinganjira was happy with the win. "I am happy because the boys never gave up and fought hard until we got those late goals."
He also said the game is an indicator that their journey to lift the championship for the first time in 8 years will not be simple and there's a need to work hard to achieve that.
The Nomads have 51 points on top of the league, two ahead of Bullets and remain unbeaten.
