Real Madrid drop home points in Valencia defeat
Real Madrid could find themselves sitting 6 points behind La Liga leaders, Barcelona, after facing a major set back in the title race following a shock 1-2 defeat over Valencia at the Santiago Benabeu on Saturday in Spain.
It was a bad day for the defending champions who saw star Vinicius Junior missing from the spot before what looked to be an equaliser being chalked off by VAR and conceded on the 95th minute to be stunned at home.
Vinicius missed a penalty on 13 minutes then Mouctar Diakhaby headed in a corner kick two minutes later but was lucky that VAR disallowed his own goal on 23 minutes as Real Madrid thought to have equalised.
Five minutes into the second half, Vinicius scored to level the scores a restore hopes of claiming maximum points but Hugo Duro finished off a ball from Rafa Mir on the 95th minute to seal the win.
The team however remain second with 63 points from 30 games while Barcelona have 66 points from 29 games
