BOB TO LEAD MALAWI UNDER 20 TO COSAFA

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Assistant Coach, Bob Mpinganjira, will the Malawi U-20 National Team to this year's COSAFA Cup African Cup of Nations Qualifiers as Football Association of Malawi confirms his role.

Mpinganjira will be with his backroom staff that worked together in the Four Nations tournament which they won after beating Zimbabwe and Kenya in the tournament in March.

Civil Women coach, Milias Jegwe Pofera and Bullets Reserves coach, Enos Chatama will be his assistants as Mcdonald Yobe is fitness trainer while Nicholas Mhango is the Team Manager.

The team will start camping on Monday 9 September at the Mpira Stadium and here is 30 man provision squad to attend the camp.

TEMWA CLOSES IN ON NEW EXTRA-ORDINARY RECORD

Scorchers forward, Temwa Chawinga, has taken just a little time to settle in USA as she has set a new record of becoming the first player to score in 8 straight matches in the National Women's Soccer League.

Chawinga managed the feat on Saturday when she netted a lone goal to inspire Kansas City Current to a 1-0 victory over Utah Royals, her 15th goal of the season.

Another record comes on the same day as she becomes the fifth player ever to score at least 15 goals in one season after Kim Little in 2014, Crystal Dunn in 2015, Sam Kerr in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and Alex Morgan in 2022.

Meanwhile, Chawinga remains with just five goals to set a new record for the League as the first ever player to score at least 20 goals in a season as Sam Kerr managed to bag 18 goals as the most in 2019.

Chawinga moved to America this year from Wuhan Jiangda University where she managed to score 53 goals in all competitions last year.

Scorchers forward, Temwa Chawinga, netted her 15th goal of the season in the National Women's Soccer League in USA as Kansas City Current beat Utah Royals 1-0 on Saturday.

Chawinga scored the goal to set a new record which is hard to break as the first ever player to score in 8 straight games in the League.

Meanwhile, it's her 15th goal in the league and she needs 62 goals only to equal the all time goal scorer of the League.

On the same day, her sister Tabitha scored her first goal for Olympic Lyonnais and assisted the other as they beat Juventus 4-2 in a friendly.

UPDATE

The Flames have safely landed in Bamako, Mali, ahead of the 2025 TotalErnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Burkina Faso this coming Tuesday.

The team is being accommodated at Radisson Collection Hotel and will have a loosening session later in the evening.
