Mbulu, Mhango inspire Flames past Namibia
Richard Mbulu and Gabadinho Mhango were on target as Malawi recorded their third win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after beating Namibia 1-2 away in Botswana on Friday afternoon.
Mbulu opened the scores after capitalising from a back-pass error from the hosts on 5th minute before William Thole forced to be replaced by George Chikooka due to injury and the Flames survived scares from the hosts to lead at half time.
Chawanangwa Kaonga replaced Robert Saizi at half time then Mhango netted a 48 meter drive after spotting the goalkeeper out of his line on 52nd minute before hitting the post and forcing a great save as the Flames looked hungry for more.
Meanwhile, Mayele Malango was handed his debut on 86th minute then David Ndeunyema pulled one back for the hosts and Maxwell Paipi replaced Lloyd Njaliwa but the Flames clinged on to the win.
Malawi are fifth in their Group with 9 points from three wins and four defeats.
